Features & Benefits | The Maize chlorotic mottle virus (MCMV) ImmunoStrip® is used to detect the presence of MCMV, the causal agent of Maize Lethal Necrosis Disease (MLND), in cereal crops. MCMV is a member of the Machlomovirus genus known for their non-enveloped, spherical, icosahedral-shaped virus particles. ImmunoStrips® are the perfect screening tool for use in the field, greenhouse, and the lab. MLND is caused when corn is co-infected with MCMV and a Potyvirus such as Sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV). MLND has more pronounced symptoms and can result in significant yield loss to a crop. African corn growing regions, where food production is vital, have been devastated by the disease in recent years. |
